New Development Review Project Notices

1342 Congress Street

To residents and property owners: A Level 3: Site Plan and Conditional Use Application was submitted to the City of Portland Planning Division by the Jewish Community Alliance of Southern Maine. The applicant is proposing a neighborhood center at 1342 Congress Street. The 91,146 sq. ft. lot is located in the R-5 zone on the site of the former St. Patrick's Church. The proposal is to demolish the existing building and construct a 19,146 sq. ft. building for a neighborhood center with a portion of the building used for a pre-school/day care center. Access to the site will be from Congress Street and and shared access with the Westgate Shopping center is proposed. Associated site improvements include a new parking area with 50 vehicle spaces and strmwater management facilities.

In accordance with the Portland Land Use Ordinance, notices of receipt of a Level III Site Plan and Conditional Use must be sent to property owners within 500 ft. of the subdivision (or 1,000 ft. if the subdivision is located in an Industrial Zone).

You will be notified of future Planning Board meetings by receiving notices from the Planning Division prior to any workshops or public hearings.
