[ARCHIVED] Cancellations and Closures!

news alert

City of Portland has temporarily closed City buildings, Troubh Ice Arena, community centers and pools, all public assembly venues and have cancelled all permitted events for use of of public space until April 30th when we will reassess and communicate with you.

Dear Parents/Guardians/Facility Users:

As you may be aware, Maine has had its first presumptive-positive case of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The Governor has advised that we refrain from non-essential indoor public gatherings of 250 or more people.  Public Health officials are recommending “social distancing” as a way to help limit the spread of the virus and potentially overwhelming our health institutions.

Effective today, the City of Portland will be cancelling all permits for use of public space and all public assembly venues until April 30th.

Because of the number of people that come and go from our community centers, pools and ice arena, we are going to temporarily close our ice arena, community centers and pools until April 30th when we will reassess and communicate with you.  We will be working with you to issue prorated refunds or credit your accounts for any lessons/rentals you will miss during this time.

Before and After School Recreation has been suspended due to Portland Public Schools being closed while we practice social distancing.

We will also be suspending all program registrations until after April 30th.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, and we thank you for your cooperation during this time. For more City information related to COVID-19, we encourage you to visit

Our public health officials ask us to remind folks to follow proper hygiene, including washing hands very well with soap and water for 20 seconds, and of course, staying home when sick.
