City Names Waterfront Working Group Members to Address Key Issues During Six-Month Moratorium

NEWS ALERT

The City of Portland today announced the members of its new Waterfront Working Group, which will work intensely over the next six months to address key issues during the time the non-marine use expansion moratorium is in place for the Waterfront Central Zone, which the Council approved at its December 17, 2018 meeting. 

The Group will consist of:

Bill Coppersmith, MLU Vice President
Lobsterman
Charlie Poole
Union Wharf, Custom Float
Steve DiMillo
Long Wharf, DiMillo’s Restaurant and Marina
Mike Alfiero
Holyoke Wharf, Harbor Fish Market
Togue Brawn
Downeast Dayboat Scallops
Becky Rand 
Becky’s Diner
Cyrus Hagge
Community member
Dory Waxman
Community member

The group, along with City staff from various departments, will meet twice a month, on the first and third Thursdays at 3:00 PM in Room 24 of City Hall. All meetings are open to the 
public.

“The City of Portland fully supports, and will always support, the working waterfront,” said City Manager Jon Jennings. “I greatly appreciate the willingness of this group to come together to address core issues so we can ensure the working waterfront exists for all future generations. We believe this process will allow us the time to develop policies that are good for everyone who enjoys Portland’s waterfront.”
