The project is under construction by Gorham Sand and Gravel from Buxton ME. Construction will continue throughout 2021.

Ocean Avenue Gorham Sand & Gravel is currently installing a new water main for the Portland Water District in Ocean Avenue from Parsons Road to Chenery Street. During working hours of 7am to 7pm Ocean Ave within this area will be reduced to alternating one way traffic or detoured down to Clifton Street. This work is scheduled to be finished on 9/17/2021. An updated schedule has been posted below.
Walton Street Gorham Sand & Gravel, will continue to install new storm drains, sewers, and water main in Walton Street towards Canco Road. Walton Street from Ocean to the school entrance is open to two way traffic. Walton Street from the school entrance to Canco Road will remain one way until the utility work is completed and the road is paved which is scheduled to occur in October.

Construction Update: 8/27/2021
Ocean Avenue Gorham Sand & Gravel has finished installing new sewer and storm drains in Ocean Avenue. Ocean Avenue is scheduled to be paved on 8/27/2021 from Walton Street to Parson Road. On 8/30/2021 Ocean Ave will be opened back up to two way traffic during non working hours. The contractor still needs to install water main for the Portland Water District in Ocean from Parsons Road to Chenery Street. During working hours of 7am to 7pm Ocean Ave will be reduced to alternating one way traffic.
Walton Street Gorham Sand & Gravel, during the month of August, has been installing new sewer in Walton Street. Starting in September they will go back to installing storm drain and water main from the school entrance towards Canco Road. Walton Street from Ocean to the school entrance will be opened up to two way traffic. Walton Street from the school entrance to Canco Road will remain one way until the utility work is completed and the road is paved which is scheduled to occur in October.

Construction Update: May 12, 2021
Gorham Sand & Gravel over the past few weeks have been installing new sewers, storm drains, and water mains with two crews onsite daily. Over the next few weeks one crew will continue installing underground utilities in Walton Street while the other crew continues to work from Mackworth towards Mayland in Ocean Ave. Also, beginning the week of 5/17 there will be a crew working on Mackworth restoring the edges of the roadway. Traffic seems to be getting used to the new one way pattern but there are still cars traveling the wrong way. Cars should not be going towards Washington Ave within the one way zone at any time. All traffic needs to travel towards Forest Avenue.

Construction Update: April 21, 2021
Gorham Sand & Gravel has now made Ocean Avenue one way from Read Street to Forest Avenue. Also last week, tDone Editinghe temporary water main has been activated and all of the houses are now on temporary water. Work will now commence with two crews onsite daily. One crew will be installing sewer and storm drains from Mackworth Street toward Irving Street. The other crew will be working near Walton Street installing sewer, storm and water main towards the Elementary School on Walton St. This work will continue for the next month.
Gorham Sand & Gravel continues to install temporary PWD water mains in preparation for upcoming water main work. Once the temporary main is active, work will start for Water, Sewer, and Storm Drain in Ocean Avenue.
