In Portland, we’re lucky to have water resources at our door step - Stroudwater and Fore Rivers, Back Cove, Capisic Pond, Casco Bay. Clean water is important to our economy and way of life.

The City and our partners work hard to ensure clean water. When it comes to keeping our rivers, streams, and bays clean, everyone plays an important role.

Follow the links on the left to learn about what the City is doing and what you can do to keep water clean.

Clean Water Update

The stormwater fee is changing to $7.00 effective 7/1/2021.

As the City continues to fund and implement projects related to the Department of Environmental Protection's mandate for Combined Sewer Overflow requirements, the stormwater rate will increase to $7.00 per billable unit as of July 1, 2021.  This is the third increase since this program started in January of 2016.
