History

The Cumberland District Public Health Council (CDPHC) was convened in December 2006. The primary focus of the Council is to ensure that public health services are provided to all towns in the Cumberland District. Efforts to this end include:

  ·    Presentations to Greater Portland Council of Governments

  ·    Individual meetings with nearly every town in the district

  ·    Creation of town-level health status reports

  ·    Review of local and state public health statutes

  ·    Distribution of health education materials to each town

  ·    Piloting contracted public health services with select towns

The efforts of the Cumberland District Public Health Council are funded by contributions from MaineHealth, Maine Medical Center, Mercy Health System, Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (via Healthy Maine Partnership grant), Woodfords Family Services, Cumberland County, and Cumberland County CDBG program.

Mission

The Council’s mission is to promote the health of all our communities by providing information, coordination, collaboration, and advocacy.

Vision

The Council’s vision is that communities in the Cumberland District are among the healthiest in the state.
